Our two days of blanket making were a huge success at Monroe Elementary School. It was so successful that we were featured in the local paper, the Hinsdalean! Over 100 eager and excited students showed up after school on Wednesday Jan. 16, and Thursday Jan. 17th to help tie and knot 40 blankets and made over 100 cards that were delivered on Friday to the Children’s Hospital at Central DuPage Hospital. Monroe Elementary in Hinsdale, IL was so happy with this event that they would like to include it in their activities possibly every year. The hospital child-life specialist was overwhelmed with appreciation for the wonderful blankets we delivered. Students were very interested in where these blankets were going and why we were doing this. We explained to them that Bayan received her first blanket from a very nice neighbor and it meant the world to her. So, we wanted to return this favor in her honor. We know that Bayan would be extremely happy with event and that it would warm her heart. This small event that was sponsored by our charity is just one of the ways we are “Painting the World Pink for Bayan”. Below are pictures from the event.
We are so incredibly excited to announce Bayan’s birthday gift for this year! In collaboration with Monroe Elementary School, we have decided to make these comfy, warm tie-knot blankets for children suffering in the hospital. Bayan received her first blanket (pictured here) from her wonderful neighbors. She treasured it and loved the warmth it provided her. The blankets will be made as a school wide effort at Sereen’s (Bayan’s sister) school on January 14th and 15th. This is just one way that we are continuing to “Paint the world pink for Bayan”.
